BILLIE T. SMITH

Billie T. Smith, 95, of Falls City (formerly of Rulo), passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Falls City. She was born May 2, 1919 at Oilton, OK, to the late James and Lillian (Fleschute) Halteman.

On Aug. 23, 1936 she married Chris Smith at Seminole, OK. He passed away Sept. 29, 1997.

Billie was raised at Seminole and when married the couple lived in many places throughout the Midwest, moving to Richardson County permanently in 1954. She was a homemaker mostly but also worked as a receiving clerk at Montgomery Wards in Oklahoma City and also worked as a presser at G & S Manufacturing at Auburn.Following her husband’s retirement, they traveled to many places throughout the United States. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Rulo.

Billie is survived by her children, John (Mary), of Ft. Scott, KS, Jane (Melvin) Zentner, of Rulo, Alfred (Dorothy), of Beatrice, David (Roberta), of Cave Springs, AR; daughter-in-law, Mary Alice Smith, of Cook; sister, Fritz Boxell, of Warren, IN; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James; daughter, Lilian in infancy; four grandchildren; sister, Alpha Sommerville; and a brother, Leslie Halteman.

A Committal service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Steele Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church at Rulo, with Rev. John Hogue officiating.

Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, of Falls City, is in charge of arrangements.
