Dorothy Irene (Miller) Ballue

Dorothy Irene (Miller) Ballue, 70, of Humboldt, died at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln on Friday, May 10, 2013.

She was born on March 8, 1943, in Falls City, the daughter of Cecil D. and Helen A. (Schuler) Miller. The family lived on a farm south of Humboldt until moving to another farm in Angus, NE, in 1949. They lived there until 1955 when the family moved back to Humboldt. Dorothy attended public schools in Humboldt, Table Rock and Dawson. She graduated from Dawson High School with the class of 1962. After graduation, Dorothy worked as a nurse’s aide at various nursing homes and hospitals in the area.

In 1968, Dorothy married James Ballue. Upon failing health, she lived at the Parkview Apartments in Humboldt.  Dorothy enjoyed crafts, beading and traveling to Falls City and Hiawatha with friends and residents of Parkview. She also enjoyed maintaining her garden.

She is survived by her sons, Allan (Christine) Ballue, of Abilene, KS, and Gene (Darla) Ballue, of Beatrice; brothers, Norman (Patricia) Miller, Ohiowa, NE, and David (Barbara) Miller, Grand Island; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt. Pastor David Cramer will officiate. A register book was available to sign on Tuesday at the mortuary.

Inurnment will be at the Heim Cemetery, Dawson. Family choice memorials are suggested. Online condolences may be sent to www.wherrymortuary.com
