BILLY E. DYKES

CPO Billy E. Dykes Ret. U.S. Navy, 86, of Falls City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 at Falls City. He was born Aug. 7, 1928 at Falls City to the late Clyde and Opal (Mullins) Dykes.

Billy was raised in Falls City and graduated from FCHS. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1948, and while serving married Delpha Davidson on March 3, 1956 at Long Beach, CA. They made their home in several places due to his service. He was honorably discharged and retired after 22 years as a gunners mate on Oct. 1, 1971 at Salt Lake City, UT. Upon retirement, they returned to Falls City, where Billy worked various jobs, including at the Falls City Country Club and Clark Funeral Home. Mrs. Dykes passed away on Oct. 16, 2004.

Billy is survived by step-children, Donald Childers, of Topeka, KS, and Donna Childers, of Nevada, MO; brother, Bobby Joe Dykes, of St. Charles, MO; sister, Mary Lou (Larry) Stallings, of Canton, GA; nephew, Robert (Shari) Lock, of Unadilla; other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a sister, Betty Lock.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home in Falls City. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military graveside honors by the Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
