ROBERT B. WEAVER

Robert Bliss Weaver, 70, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014 at Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt. He was born May 1, 1944, in Humboldt, the third of three children, to Robert F. and Maxine (Bliss) Weaver and spent his early years in Humboldt. Following his dad’s return from WWII Pacific theater duty in the U.S. Coast Guard, the Weavers moved to Silver Spring, MD, where Bob graduated from Blair High School. He subsequently completed managerial sales training in Maryland and worked nearby as store manager for the Murray Hardware Co.

Following his years in Maryland, he returned to Humboldt, where his parents had earlier returned. He worked at Cooper Construction, marrying Cathy Gilliland in 1976. They departed in 1980 for Las Vegas to each manage departments at Sears Roebuck Co. They returned to Humboldt in 1982 for health reasons, and Cathy died three years later on Easter Sunday, 1995. Bob continued to make his home in Humboldt. However, due to injury suffered from an automobile accident in July 2012, Bob spent the remainder of his days hospitalized and in treatment. 

He is survived by his mother, Maxine Weaver, of Humboldt; niece, Celeste Rodriguez; and two great nephews. 

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy; father, Robert F.; brother, John William; sister, Linda Jean; grandparents, Frank and Ethel Weaver, George and Tola Bliss; and Uncle Ralph and Aunt Minnie Hummel. 

Bob donated his body for scientific research at Creighton Medical Center. 

Services will be scheduled at a later date with an Inurnment at the Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Humboldt. Memorials to support restoration of the Humboldt City Auditorium and may be sent to his mother, Maxine Weaver, CANH, Humboldt, NE 68376.
