LOIS ROSEANNE McGINNIS

Lois Roseanne ‘Anne’ McGinnis, 78, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at Falls City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The daughter of the late Clarence ‘Russell’ and Iza ‘May’ (Hubbard) Stroud, she was born Oct. 12, 1935 in Forest City, MO.

    Anne was raised in Northwestern Missouri, living in the Bigelow area and Mound City. A graduate of Mound City High School in 1953, she received a Certificate of Recognition as the “Student of Highest Scholastic Promise.”  

     On Nov. 14, 1953 Anne was married to Thomas Asa McGinnis in Forest City at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Following her marriage, she and husband Tom have been residents of Falls City since 1956.She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

     Mrs. McGinnis worked a variety of jobs over the years, including positions on the administrative staff at Sacred Heart High School, Stalder Cattle Co., and legal secretary for Lantzy & Parsons. She was also employed at the First National Bank a short while before joining the Richardson County Treasurer’s Office, where she worked until her retirement in 1989.  

     In addition to her husband, Tom, Anne is survived by a sister, Betty Erving; brother, David Stroud; children, Tom Rose, Kevin McGinnis, Theresa Rose Wagner, and Susan McGinnis Budelis; grandchildren, Anthony and James Thomas Rose, Aaron and Celia McGinnis, Erik Gray, and Brooks Budelis; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Msgr. Robert A. Roh as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.

     A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, Falls City.
