JANET E. WILSON

Janet Elaine (Blecha) Wilson, 72, of Humboldt, passed away at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014. She was born July 21, 1942 in Humboldt, to Emil and Irene (Holechek) Blecha.

She was raised on a farm near Humboldt and attended Lynchburg country school through the sixth grade. Janet graduated from Humboldt High School with the Class of 1959. She continued her education by graduating from Personnel Training School in Omaha, where she obtained a job at Mutual of Omaha. On Nov. 6, 1960, Janet married James A. Wilhelm at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt. To this union two sons, Jeff and John, were born. Janet worked the switchboard at O.A. Cooper C. until her sons were born and going to school. Community Memorial Hospital in Humboldt called and asked if she would work one day a week and thus began the foundation of her medical career.

In 1980, Janet moved to Las Vegas to begin a new life venture. She began working for a young physician who just started his medical practice. Janet was instrumental in laying the ground work to build two medical facilities housing specialty physicians, as well as a birthing center and primary care. After many hours of studying, she became administrator of their five medical clinics and served that position for 20 years. Janet then worked the next 10 years at a Quick Care/Primary Care Clinic until retiring and moving back to her hometown of Humboldt. While in Humboldt, she enjoyed watching her remaining younger grandchildren grow up and take part in their many activities, having already followed her grandson, Christian, through his school days.

Janet’s love was her grandchildren and family, being very proud of all their accomplishments. She was proud to be a part of the Wilhem family and continued to consider them family as she remained a part of family get-togethers with all the nieces and nephews still calling her “Aunt Janet.” God was an important part of her everyday living. Janet was a member of the United Methodsit Church, attending church services regularly, and had served as a Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeff Wilhelm; and a brother, Paul Blecha.

Janet is survived by her son, John (Julie) Wilhelm, of Humboldt; grandchildren, Christian Wilhelm, of Boulder, CO, Justin Judge, of Lincoln, Jamie and Jacob Wilhelm, both of Humboldt; daughter-in-law, Carol (Scott) Wilhelm, of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Susie Blecha, of rural Humboldt; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, with Pastors Jaclyn Hoy and Dean Joy officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt. Family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Richardson County Cancer Fund.
