Dorothy Russell, 107, of Yuba City, CA, died on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at Grass Valley, CA. She was born July 9, 1907, at Unadilla, the daughter of Philip and Dora (Roberts) Goering.
She married David Russell in 1939 at Wilber. In 1940 the Russells moved to Yuba City, where Dorothy was a piano teacher and provided child care for several families.
She had two children, Ronald and LaDonna; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a member of Emmanuel Faith Tabernacle, Linda, CA; and in her later years attended Liberty Bible Church, Yuba City. She enjoyed participating in church quilting groups and composing original worship choruses.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, LaDonna Munar; daughter-in-law, Elnora (Warkentin) Russell; brothers, Lee, Paul, Raymond and Loren Goering; and sister, Ruth McDaniel.
Mrs. Russell is survived by her son, Pastor Ronald (Caroline) Russell, of Humboldt; son-in-law, Frank Munar, of Yuba City; grandchildren, Lorna Johal of Yuba City, Eldon Russell, of Humboldt, Bruce (Deena) Russell, of Yuba City; great grandchildren, Steve Johal, of Fremont, CA, Julie Johal, of Temecula, CA, Julia, Kaylee and David Russell, of Yuba City; sister-in-law, Lavon Brunsdon, of Syracuse; and many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, Yuba City, with Pastor Larry Koen officiating.Burial will be at Sutter (CA) Cemetery. Ullrey Memorial Chapel, Yuba City, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials will be given to the family’s choice.
