HARRY H. HESS, JR

Harry H. Hess, Jr., 92, of Omaha, formerly of Falls City, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014. He was born Nov. 23, 1921 to the late Harry H. Hess Sr. and Josephine (O’Grady) Hess.

He was a member of the 1939 Falls City High School Class A State Championship Basketball Team. Member of Creighton University Blue Jays, played in the 1942 National Invitational Tournament (N.I.T.) in New York City (pre-NCAA Tournament).

Member of U.S. Army Air Corps, Pacific Theater, 1942-1945.  

Co-founder of Boyle, Hess and Elliott, C.P.A. Accounting Firm (1946). Past President of Kiwanis International, North Omaha Chapter. Inducted into Great Navy of The State of Nebraska in 1942.

Harry is survived by his wife, Mary Patricia Hess; children, Ellyn H. Zaia (John), Gretchen M. Hess, and John C. Hess (Melody); grandchildren, Cary and Allison; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Scott F. Hess; sister, Mary Hess Bowman; and his parents.  

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014 with vigil service at 7 p.m. at the West Center Chapel of Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Mortuaries in Omaha.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Omaha. Interment at Calvary Cemetery with military rites by Benson VFW Post 2503. Memorials to Boys Town.
