Esther L. Helmick, 95, of Falls City, passed away May 24, 2014 at Falls City. She was born Jan. 6, 1919 at Barada to the late Charles and Bertha (Last) Kuker.
On Sept. 17, 1937 she married Donald “Pat” Helmick at Troy, KS. He passed away Dec. 29, 1974.
Esther was raised in Richardson County and when married the couple established their home on a farm near Stella. She was a homemaker until the death of her husband when she became employed at the Falls City Hospital. She retired in 1981.
Esther is survived by her sons, Donald Jr. (Barbara), of Sabetha, KS, Charles, of Atchison, KS, Kenneth (Florence), of Omaha; daughter, Connie Sue Roe, of Falls City; three granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Karen in infancy, and a brother, Edwin Kuker.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Haworth officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery at Shubert.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
