DONALD L. SHAW

Donald L. Shaw, 85, of Falls City, passed away May 8, 2014 at Falls City. He was born March 24, 1929 at Salem, to the late Floyd A. and Naomi (Darby) Shaw.

 On Oct. 21, 1951 he married Jo-Etta Moore at Falls City.

 Don attended school in Salem until moving to Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1947.

 Don worked at Firestone Stores during high school, Wittrock Dairy, Coca-Cola Bottling plant and retired from the Southeast Nebraska Telephone Company in 1989. Following his retirement, he and Jo-Etta traveled extensively covering all 50 states, several countries in Europe including Germany, Austria, Hungry, as well as all but one province in Canada and into Mexico as well, plus cruising the Caribbean. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church serving on several committees and the church board. His most cherished friends are members of the church and the Sunday School Class.

 Don is survived by his wife; daughters, Debra Jean (Steve) Peck, of Lincoln, Donetta Kay Shaw of Kansas City, MO; grandsons, Matthew (Meghan) Peck, of Durham, NC, David Peck, of Lincoln; great-granddaughter, Aubreyana Peck, of Lincoln; sister, Beverly Torkelson, of Falls City; sisters-in-laws, Janice Moore of Falls City, Bernice Shaw, of Omaha, Retta (Merlin) Wenger, of Sabetha; brother-in-law, Karlus (Pat) Moore, of Nebraska City; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy; infant sister, Arlyss Jean; and a brother-in-law, Bob Moore.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Inurnment will be Steele Cemetery.

 Family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
