MARGARET I. KOESTER

Margaret I. Koester, 98, of Falls City, passed away May 7, 2014 at Falls City. She was born March 5, 1916 at Falls City to the late Charles and Mary (Arnold) Steinbrink.

On April 11, 1939 she married Leo Koester at Falls City; he passed away Feb. 5, 2002.

Margaret was raised in Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1934; she attended Peru State College for one year and then worked for Magill Insurance Agency. The couple established their home and began farming west of Falls City when married, moved southeast of Barada, and later northeast of Falls City. The couple retired from farming in 1993 and moved to Falls City.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Leo H., Jr. (Judith), of Tucson, AZ, Ronald (Dorothy), of Grafton, ND; daughters, Geraldine (Albert) Chesnut, of Macon, GA, Gwendolyn (Wayne) Miller, of Lincoln, Catherine (James) Scott, of Houston, TX; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Elizabeth Tutt; sisters, Clara Bertram, Ella Stanley, Bernice Rieschick; brothers, Ralph and August Steinbrink. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Msgr. Robert A. Roh as the presiding priest. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery. 

A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with family receiving friends following the rosary.
