Falls City High junior Lee Huettner paced the boys’ track team last Tuesday with a pair of first-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump events, as the Tigers scored 60 team points and finished fifth at the Nebraska City Invitational.
Huettner leaped 20 feet, 2 1/2 inches in the long jump and 41 feet, 10 1/2 inches in the triple jump to earn his gold medals. FC senior Mitchell Harling took home bronze in the triple jump with a distance of 40 feet, 9 3/4 inches, while also finishing fourth in the long jump at 18 feet, 11 1/2 inches. Zach Jordening brought home a silver medal for the Tigers in the high jump with a height of 6-feet even. FC’s 400-meter and 1600-meter relay teams each finished in second place with times of 44.54 seconds and 3:42.29 minutes, respectively. Harling, Jordening, junior Jeremy Robinson and junior Jordy Stoller made up the 400 team and the 1600 team consisted of Huettner, Harling, Stoller and senior Cody Schawang.

The Lady Tigers’ best finish came from the 3200-meter relay team of junior Krystal Samqua, seniors Brooke Scheitel, junior Lindsey Duerfeldt and freshman Cheyenne Dovel, who combined for a runner-up finish with a time of 11:33.89.
Samqua and Dovel finished fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 1600-meter run, while Scheitel, sophomore Lainey Larsen and freshman Brittany Webster each turned in fourth-place finishes. Scheitel in the high jump (4-08.01), Larsen in the 3200 meters (14:08.01 and Webster in the discus (79-08 1/2). Webster added a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 7 inches. Senior Mahlory Vice finished fifth in the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 6:17.98.
The Tiger track teams return to action Thursday at the Syracuse Invitational with field events scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
