FC golfers open season in cold, windy conditions

Low scores were scarce last Tuesday at the Auburn Triangular  for all involved, as the Falls City High, Humboldt-TR-S and Auburn golf teams battled 25-30 mile per hour winds and sub-40 temperatures in the season-opening event at Auburn Country Club.

Senior Brody Weinmann gutted out a 46, as did Humboldt-TR-S’ Tony Jimenez and the two shared first-place honors. Auburn’s Justin Gren, 48, and Jack Kudrna, 49, were third and fourth, respecitvely, and the only other scores in the three-team field below 50.

Auburn won the triangular with a team score of 196, 10 better than HTRS’ 206.

FC’s other three scores taken for the team total of 213 came from Preston Deckinger, 53, Baily Bindle, 55, and Aaron Kurpgeweit, 59. Colton Reiss’ 60 was not taken.

FC faced breezy, yet warmer conditions yesterday at the Auburn Invitational and return to competition April 11 in Hiawatha, KS.
