Scott Allen Schwarting, 51, of Shiprock, N.M., formerly of Falls City, died Dec. 10, 2013, in a fire at his home. He was born Aug. 9, 1962 at West Point, NE, to Larry and Marlene Schwarting.
He attended school in Boyden-Hull, IA, and Fremont before the family moved to Falls City. He graduated from Falls City High School in 1980, and Peru State College in 1985 with a degree in education, business administration, physical education and coaching. He lettered in baseball four years at PSC and coached Elks Midgets and Legion Juniors baseball in Falls City.
Scott taught and coached at Venango (NE) High School from 1985 to 1992, when he began teaching and coaching football, track and wrestling at Central Consolidated Schools in Shiprock. He was also athletic director.
He married Rozanne Brown in 1986 and they were later divorced. He married Lorry Lee in 1995 and they were later divorced.
Scott is survived by his parents, of Falls City; three daughters, Natasha A. Schwarting, of Hastings, Natasha R. Lee-Schwarting and Desiree Schwarting, both of Shiprock; three granddaughters; sisters, Ruth (Roger) Jensen, of S. Sioux City, NE, Kathy (Jim) Gasper, of Omaha, and Cheryl (David) Guess, of Nebraska City; brothers, L. David (Beth) Schwarting, of Carmel, IN, and Jeff (Sandy) Schwarting, of Falls City; 27 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at First United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Roxie Sullivan officiating. Inurnment will be in Steele Cemetery. Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, of Falls City, is in charge of arrangements.
