An investigation is ongoing, while charges are pending against two juveniles after the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the theft of two trucks in Humboldt over the weekend.

A 1988 four-door Chevy dually, owned by Humboldt resident Eric Eden, was reported stolen Saturday evening by Eden, who stated that his truck had been taken from his residence. Eden also reported that there was another Chevy S-10 pickup in a ditch near his home that did not belong there.

The S-10 was later reported stolen by Robert Mendenhall, owner of the NAPA Autoparts business in Humboldt, who told deputies that the S-10 was awaiting repairs outside NAPA when it was stolen. Michael Kanel is the owner of the Chevy S-10.

A Nemaha County Sheriff’s Deputy later recovered Eden’s truck in Nemaha County near the intersection of Highways 67 and 105. The truck was impounded for processing by the RCSO and the S-10 was returned to the owner.
