Tiger girls 1st, boys 2nd at Falls City Invitational

 

 

 

Falls City High’s girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams had their best performances of the season last Thursday and they did it at their own meet.

Falls City and Mid-Buchanan (MO) tied for first n the girls’ team standing with 25 points, but FC won the meet on a tiebreaker. Mound City (MO) was third in girls’ team standings with 33 points.

Johnson County Central took home first place on the boys side with 18 points and FC was second with 43 points, finishing just in front of Auburn’s 45 points.

Mound City’s Kendey Eaton was the individual winner on the girls’ side with a time of 20:02. FC’s Lainey Larson had the best Tiger finish with a seventh place medal and a time of 22:09.  Krystal Samqua (22:40), Cheyenne Dovel (22:57), Lauren Bierman (23:10) and Morgan Roberts (23:40) finished in ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th place, respectively, for the Tigers. Samuel Salvidar of JCC was the individual champion with a time of 17:13.  Dakota Graves of Auburn was second in 17:17 and Kyle Leafty of FC was third in 17:25. Brandon Gibson of FC (18:23) was seventh. Anthony Baker (19:34), Brett Black (19:35), Justin Doerr (19:59) and Blake Black (21:04) rounded out the Tiger boys’ varsity.

    Elizabeth Oliver finished in 24th place with a time of 32:05 and on the boys’ side Matthew Rathje (22:08) and Christian Bennett (22:09) finished 41st and 42nd, respectively.
