Vesta M. Linderman

Vesta M. Linderman, 92, of Falls City, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Falls City. She was born April 6, 1921, east of Falls City to Christ C. and Rosa (Weinert) Bletscher.

Vesta married Elmer C. Linderman on Jan. 12, 1945, at Zion Evangelical Church, six miles east of Falls City.

Vesta was raised in the Falls City area and lived in this area her entire life. She attended school at the Brick School, District 53, graduated from Falls City High School in 1938, attended Western Union College at LeMars, IA, and later graduated from Peru State College. She taught in rural Richardson County schools for 12 years.  They lived on a farm near Reserve, KS for 11 years, later moving to rural Rulo, rural Falls City, then 30 years in Preston. They moved to Falls City in 2005.

She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, east of Falls City (formerly the Zion Evangelical Church), which she joined in 1933 and was an active member her entire life. She served in many different positions in the church; she also did volunteer work in the community.

Vesta is survived by her husband, Elmer, of Falls City; son, Stanley (Rosemary), of Tempe, AZ; daughter, Joyce (Charles) Hundley, of Falls City; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Linderman, of Falls City.

She was preceded in death by a son, Keith Linderman, in 1982; three brothers, Edwin, Herbert and Milton Bletscher; sister, Bernice Rieger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Bethel United Methodist Church, east of Falls City, with Pastor Karla Shafer officiating. Interment in the Bethel-Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, of Falls City.
