Donald D. Rieschick

Donald D. Rieschick, 73, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on April 1, 2013.

He was born in Falls City on July 2, 1939, the son of Carl and Edith Rieschick.  In his early years, Don was a great help to his dad on the farm. He graduated from Falls City High School, where he ran on the track team and had leading roles in class plays. He graduated from Kansas City’s Finley Engineering College.

While in Kansas City, he met his wife, Carol. He worked as a computer system analyst for various companies including Yellow Freight, UMB and the Kansas City School District. Don was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan and loved to play golf.

During retirement, he enjoyed teaching computer classes to seniors. He was on the board of SENCOM, the senior computer users group of Kansas City. Don and Carol were charter members of Ascension Lutheran Church, where he served on various boards and committees, in addition to keeping their computers in working order.

Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol, of the home; son, Jeffery; brother, Del, sister, Linda Schmelig; a granddaughter; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A son, James J. Rieschick, preceded Don in death.
