Edward Joseph Boehme was born July 22, 1935 to Ferdinand and Edith [Darveau] Boehme in Rulo, Nebraska. Ed loved to hunt and fish when not working on the farm. He graduated from Falls City Sacred Heart High School on May 24, 1953.
He joined the US Air Force August 1954. He was active duty from Aug 24, 1954 until May 6, 1958. He served with the 86th Fighter Interceptor Wing at Landstuhl, Germany for three years. He received the Occupation Medal (Germany) and the Good Conduct Medal. After returning to Falls City, he served in the Air Force Reserve until he was Honorably Discharged Aug 23, 1962.
Nancy Kay Rieger-Boehme was born on August 3, 1938 to George and Blanche [Montague] Rieger, Falls City, Nebraska. Nancy loved to sing. She graduated from Falls City Public High School on May 24, 1956.
She trained to be a telephone operator in Council Bluffs, IA. She then returned to Falls City to work as a bookkeeper for the Falls City Meat Company.
Ed returned to Falls City in the summer of 1958. He and Nancy met at a dance and they were engaged Christmas 1960. They were married Sept 30, 1961 at Immaculate Conception Church in Rulo, NE.
Work was difficult to find, Paul (Nancy’s brother) and Veronica Rieger invited Ed and Nancy to join them in Chicago where Paul worked as a Special Agent for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. Ed was hired as an Assistant Special Agent and worked alongside Paul. Nancy sold tickets for the commuter train. They made their home in Downers Grove, IL.
Several years later Ed had an opportunity to work for Sears as a Computer Analyst, he retired from Sears in 2002. Nancy worked as an Office Assistant in several doctor’s offices and as a comptroller at a bank in Downers Grove, IL. Both loved dogs, especially German Shepherds.
Edward Joseph Boehme died January 14, 2021 in Chicago, IL.
Nancy Kay Rieger-Boehme died October 24, 2021 in Omaha, NE.
Those who preceded Ed and Nancy in death: Parents; Ferdinand and Edith [Darveau] Boehme and George and Blanche [Montague] Rieger; Siblings; Ferdinand Boehme and Georgie, Esther, Rosalie, Jane, and Paul Rieger.
Survived by sister-in-law Veronica Rieger, Sheridan, WY, and nieces and nephews.
