Marcella Arvilla Hershberger Niedfeldt, formerly of Falls City, passed away on December 18, 2017 at Lincoln. She was born in Fargo, ND, to the late Swan (Svante Neander Nilssen) Nelson and Alice Isobel (Higgins) Nelson of Moorhead, MN.
On November 1, 1941 she married Charles Hershberger in Moorhead, MN. He passed away March 26, 1988. On July 21, 1990 she married Albert Niedfeldt in Falls City. He passed away June 25, 2010.
Marcella was raised on the home farm outside of Moorhead, MN and graduated from Moorhead High School. In addition to being a farm wife southeast of Falls City she was employed at the Falls City Creamery, Johnson Insurance Company and the office of William Farmer, M.D.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, six miles north of Falls City, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She was an active member of Order of the Eastern Star (OES) Chapter 254, Rulo, and Chapter 234, Humboldt, NE, BPOE DOES Drove 56, Falls City, and True Homemakers Extension Club, rural Falls City.
She is survived by son, Larry (Janice) Hershberger, Tecumseh; daughter, Charlotte Nedrow, Waverly; grandchildren: Stephanie (Kevin) Swanson, Syracuse; Michelle Hershberger, Westwood, KS; Heather (Marvin) Rubenking, Waverly; great-grandchildren: Caden and Carley Rubenking, Waverly, Quincey and Kaleb Swanson, Syracuse; and Albert’s surviving children Bill Niedfeldt, Shubert; Tom (Kathy) Niedfeldt, Falls City; Anita (Dan) Zichek, Lincoln; Barbara (Cletus) Benes, Raymond; and grand-and great- grandchildren. Marcella is also survived by a brother, Leonard (Charlotte) Nelson, Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Marjorie Nelson, Moorhead, MN; nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother, Morris Nelson, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norman and Marjorie Herschberger, grandson, Michael Hershberger and son-in-law, Larry Nedrow.
Funeral services will be held at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City, on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Paul Weinert officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before service at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 234, BPOE DOES, Dove 56 and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, six miles north.
