Marvin Duerfeldt, 93, of Falls City, NE, passed away July 28, 2021 at Falls City. He was born December 18, 1927 in rural Falls City to Clifford and Edna (Ruegge) Duerfeldt.
He married Norma Lee Constantine on May 20, 1951 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
Marvin enlisted in the U. S. Army on April 22, 1946 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He served in Japan as a transportation expert that ensured safe travel for generals. He earned an Army of Occupation Medal and a World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on April 21, 1947 at Camp Beale, CA.
Marvin was raised on the family farm and graduated from Falls City High School in 1945. He then farmed with his father before enlisting and upon his discharge he returned to farm and raise livestock, he also did customer fertilizing. He was the 4th generation to farm the land that had been in the family since 1861 and still is today. He enjoyed collecting John Deere memorabilia, belt buckles and Fenton ware glass. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Brotherhood.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Norma Lee of Falls City, children, Barb Elliott and her husband Ron of Falls City, Sharon Bennett and her husband Ray of Cedar Rapids, NE, Glenda Kermoade of Superior, NE, Richard and his wife Jan of Falls City, Cathy Scholl and her husband Dan of Falls City, sister, Bernice Matthes of Falls City, twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lester.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Mike Hader officiating. Interment will be in Williamsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
