Retta (Moore) Wenger

Retta Sue (Moore) Wenger, 79, of Sabetha, Kansas was born August 7th, 1939, at her parents’ home in Falls City, Nebraska.  She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Catherine “Kate” (Brazau) Moore. Retta was raised in Falls City and attended Falls City public schools, where she graduated with the class of 1957. Following graduation, Retta moved to Sabetha, KS where she was employed in the secretarial field.  She was married and later divorced, and to that union, two daughters were born, Susan and Mary Ann.  Retta worked at the Sabetha Community Hospital for 38 years in the medical records department, having earned her degree as an Accredited Record Technician (ART).  She retired from her position as Director of Medical Records in December 2004.

In September 2004, Retta was united in marriage to Merlin D. Wenger.  Retta and Merlin enjoyed their home, sharing in their faith, a beautiful flower garden, traveling, and spending special time with family and friends.  When Retta’s health began to decline she became a resident of the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha where she lived until she was called home to be with the Lord. Her final wishes were to turn to your child and hug them, celebrating the precious time you have together. “Our time is like a wisp in the wind.”  Retta passed away quietly and peacefully on Saturday, April 27, 2019, having reached the earthly age of seventy-nine years, eight months and twenty days.  She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Mary Ann, brothers Robert “Bob” and Karlus “Corky” Moore, and brother-in-law, Don Shaw.
