Sharon Kay (Hogue) Koch, 76, of Dawson was born on May 29, 1944, in Humboldt, Nebraska to Clifford and Velma (Pettit) Hogue. She was raised with her family in Dawson where they owned and operated the Dawson Café. Sharon received all of her schooling in Dawson and graduated from Dawson High School with the class of 1962. On November 10, 1962, Sharon was united in marriage to James “Jim” Koch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson. To this union four children, Stephanie, Stacey, William “Bill” and Kevin were born. The couple began their marriage living in Falls City before moving to Dawson where they have lived the rest of their married lives. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and tending to her flowers.
Sharon passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of 76 years, nine months and 5 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Dennis Hogue, sister-in-law Carol Koch and brother-in-law Robert “Bob” (Judy) Koch. She is survived by her husband Jim Koch of Dawson, daughters: Stephanie Ingraham of Dawson, Stacey Patel of Dawson, sons: Bill Koch and wife Jamie of Dawson, Kevin Koch and wife Cora of Tecumseh, KS; grandchildren: Jacob Ingraham and wife Amber of Creston, IA; Alex Ingraham of Chuluota, FL; Chloe Patel of Falls City, NE; Ethan and Daniel Koch of Tecumseh, KS; Levi and Jonathan Koch of Dawson, NE; great-granddaughter Sophie Ingraham of Creston, IA; sisters-in-law: Jane Ann Hogue of Humboldt, NE; Annette Bausch and husband Larry of Beemer, NE; Mae Jean Brightup and husband Joe of Topeka, KS ; Michelle Heim and husband Joe of Dawson, NE; brothers-in-law: Larry Koch of Dawson, NE; Richard “Rick” Koch and wife Kathy of Rochester, MN; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, Nebraska with Father Kenneth Hoesing and Father Michael McCabe officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street, in Humboldt, Nebraska. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson by Father Kenneth Hoesing.
Inurnment will follow mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dawson.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
