Becky Lynn Nelson, 61, one of three children of Russell and Margie (Gwathney) Nosler, was born April 30, 1958, in Brinkley, Arkansas. Becky grew up and attended school in Wheatley, Arkansas graduating from Wheatley High School in 1976. Becky was very active in her high school, she served as president of her senior class, was a member of the Beta Club, Future Business Leaders of America, FHA, science club, WHSPA, and a member of the basketball team. After high school, Becky attended Arkansas State University at Jonesboro on a full-ride scholarship to play basketball.
On April 1, 1983, Becky was united in marriage to Jerry Nelson on the front step of the Jersey Lilly in Langtry, Texas. The couple would be blessed with a daughter, Shane.
After moving to Nebraska, Becky worked at the King Louie Sewing factory in Auburn. She then worked at WoodCarv and continued working there as it became Armstrong Cabinet until it’s closing. Most recently, Becky worked for Stillwater Public Schools in Oklahoma as a cook.
In Arkansas, Becky was raised in the Methodist Church, while in Nebraska, she attended the Stella Community Church in Stella where she volunteered as preschool teacher. In her spare time, Becky enjoyed reading and sewing. Her greatest joy though, came from taking care of her granddaughter Josie, making sure to get her to her basketball practices and games.
On the morning of February 20, 2020, Becky was rushed to the Community Medical Center in Falls City where she passed away unexpectedly.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to mourn include her husband Jerry of Verdon; daughter Shane and husband Joseph Decker of Ripley, OK; granddaughter Josie Decker; brothers Jimmy and Tony Nosler of Arkansas; sister-in-law Norma Stinson of Tecumseh; brother-in-law Dick Wheeler of Hamburg, IA; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held February 26, 2020 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. John States. Joe Decker, Matt Lockard, Greg Lockard, Kurt Lockard, Brent Shubert, and Gary Ramer served as casket bearers. Burial followed in the Stella Cemetery at Stella.
Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
