A small crop dusting plane went down north of Fairview, Kansas on the morning of Friday, July 18 shortly before 9:00 a.m. Minimal injuries were reported to the pilot who had allegedly reported engine problems and was looking for a place to land. The plane reportedly crashed into a power pole near Coyote Road while flying low to crop-dust a nearby field for weeds.
As of Saturday morning the name of the pilot had not been release.
In a related story, northwest Kansas officials reported a similar incident, which also took place Friday, July 18. The crop-dusting accident took place in Ellis County about 90 miles west of Hays. The pilot was identified as Garrett Moore, 23, of Oakley, Kansas. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that the single engine place was discovered in a field Friday morning shortly before 10:00 a.m. The plane had been missing for approximately three hours. The Kansas Highway Patrol and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
