Falls City High’s and Falls City Sacred Heart’s boys basketball teams both earned victories Thursday night in subdistricts and advanced to the district championship games of their respective classes.
The seventh-ranked Tigers improved to 23-2 in Class C-1 with a 62-47 victory over Johnson County Central in the C1-1 subdistrict final and will take on No. 2 Lincoln Christian (18-6) Monday, March 3 at 7 p.m. at Nebraska City High School.
Second-ranked Sacred Heart captured the D2-1 subdistrict with a 71-61 victory over ninth-ranked Lincoln Parkview Christian at Johnson-Brock High School. The Irish, now 23-3, will face top-ranked Exeter-Milligan Tuesday, Mar. 4 at 7 p.m. at Norris Middle School Gymnasium located at 25211 South 68th Street in Firth.
All Class C-1 and C-2 district championships will be played Monday night at various locations around the state and Classes D-1 and D-2 wrap up district play Tuesday night.
Each district champion clinches a berth in the Nebraska Boys State Basketball tournament Mar. 13-15 in Lincoln. The State Finals will be held Saturday, Mar. 15 and all games will be played at the new Pinnacle Bank Arena.
