Falls City High split their two home games Tuesday night and now sit at 11-8 on the year.
The Lady Tigers, who are still listed as a contender in Thursday’s Class C ratings by the Lincoln Journal Star, were shut down, 8-0, by fellow Class C contender Cass County Central in the first game. It was FC’s second loss to Cass County in three days, as the Crush defeated the Lady Tigers 9-1 Saturday in the third place game of the FC Invitational.
FC was held to four hits, two of which came from the bat of junior Sydney Armbruster. Senior Allyson Scholl and freshman Bailey Armbruster each finished 1-for-3.
The Lady Tigers responded in big fashion though with an easy 19-0 victory over winless Platteview. Fourteen Tigers batted at least once during the game and collectively, FC finished 10-for-20 at the dish. Senior Brooke Scheitel drove in four, while senior Kirstyn Buccholz recorded three RBI’s and scored three runs. The Armbruster sisters each drove in a pair and Sydney crossed the plate three times. Scoring twice for FC were freshman Morgan Bletscher, senior Haley Cochran, junior Shiloah Feighner and sophomore Avery Scott.
FC will have another chance to pile on Platteview tonight, as the two teams will meet in Auburn for a triangular with Plattsmouth. Yes, you read that correctly. The triangular is in Auburn. The first game is scheduled for 4:30.
