An Elk Creek woman plead not guilty to a felony charge during her arraignment hearing last Tuesday in Richardson County District Court
Erica Beethe, 20, was charged with aiding or abetting theft by unlawful taking, a Class III felony, after her alleged involvement in the theft of a 2008 Jeep Wrangler from Armbruster Motor Company in Falls City.
Beethe was arrested Friday, May 17 in connection with the theft of a Jeep Wrangler which she and another man test drove during the afternoon hours of May 16.
According to the affidavit, Beethe and a man identified as “Brad” took the Jeep for a test drive and drove it south to the state line where Brad made her get out of the vehicle. Beethe said she called the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office to report what had happened, but the RCSO had no record of the call. Cellphone records indicated that Beethe’s last call to the RCSO occurred 21 days earlier.
A jury trial has been set for Nov. 13.
