Falls City’s Blue Storm Seniors picked up wins over Hiawatha, KS, Tecumseh and Fairbury last week, but fell to Waverly Saturday night at SNC Field in the championship game of the Fight for the Falls Tournament.
Waverly jumped on top of FC with a six-run first inning and never looked back as they claimed the title with a 13-3 victory.
FC’s Codie Witt and Tyler DiGiacomo each recorded RBI singles in the top of the second to cut the deficit to 6-2, but Waverly answered with two runs of their own in each of the next two innings.
DiGiacomo and Logan Scheitel each finished 2-3 at the plate for the Blue Storm.
DiGiacomo had a big week for FC as he went 8-14 at the plate in the four games with four runs scored, five RBIs and three extra-base hits.
Reese Hogue took the loss against Waverly, his first of the season, as he lasted just 2 2/3 innings. Hogue 10 earned against Waverly after allowing just seven runs in three previous outings.
The Seniors (7-3) host Teckmeyer Financial/Wilmar Electric tonight at 8. Tomorrow they travel to Plattsmouth and this weekend they travel to Doniphan County, KS, for a tournament.

Trailing 2-0 after two innings, FC tacked on three in the third and then four in the sixth to pull away from Fairbury.
DiGiacomo recorded the Blue Storm’s first home run of the season with his shot to right field in the top of the fifth inning. He finished with four RBIs in the game and was 2-3 at the plate.
Codie Witt picked up a pair of RBIs, while Chaz Dunn, Lane Scheitel and Wade Witt each drove in one.
Logan Scheitel pitched six strong innings for FC as he held Fairbury scoreless while recording four strikeouts and just four hits. Chase Thompson picked up his first save of the season.

Lane Scheitel picked up his second victory of the season as he pitched eight shutout innings in relief of Wade Witt as the Blue Storm held on to win a 13-inning thriller, 2-1, last Wednesday at SNC Field.
Witt pitched the first five innings and struck out four while allowing only one earned run, but Tecumseh’s Zane Kaster was equally affective as he allowed one run and struck out 12 in seven innings.
Witt and Scheitel combined to hold Tecumseh to just 3-for-42 at the plate.
Scheitel also scored both FC runs and finished with a pair of hits. Thompson finished 2-5 with an RBI and Stoller drove in the other Blue Storm run.
Tuesday, June 4 at Hiawatha, KS

Hiawatha 0
FC jumped on Hiawatha early on the road last Tuesday with five first-inning runs. Lane Scheitel, Jordy Stoller and Brandt Vice each drove in two runs.
Scheitel also picked up his second win of the season as he pitched five innings of one-hit baseball. He struck out seven and walked none.
