Patty Schawang

Patty Schawang, 71, of Omaha, NE passed away on January 5, 2024 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha. She was born on December 27, 1952 to Bernard and Dorothy (Stokes) Schawang. She was raised in the Barada area and attended rural county schools. She was baptized and confirmed at Arago Catholic Church. She was a 1971 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. After high school she attended Cosmetology School in Lincoln. Patty later graduated with an Associate Degree from Highland Community College. She spent time as a nanny in New York City, Lincoln and Falls City.

During her time in Lincoln, she also worked for Experian and Immigration Services. Patty’s dream job began in 2010 when she moved to Omaha to be near her niece Kiley to help care for her children Kristin, Will and Carson. Patty loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time celebrating holidays at Steve and Cheryl’s house and attending the kids’ school and sporting events. She loved to take road trips and Utah and Colorado were some of her favorite places to visit.  Patty had a deep love for animals and they all seemed to gravitate to her, which family members found so amusing.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Dorothy Schawang. She is survived by her brothers, Kenny (Elaine) Schawang, Ralph Schawang, Steve (Cheryl) Schawang and Leon Schawang all of the Falls City area, nieces and nephews, Kenny Schawang Jr, Tammy Bruns, Korey Schawang, Glenn Schawang, Kiley Maddux-Weisbeck, Stephanie Catron, Nichole Strauss, Wendy Schawang and Bryan Schawang Heinzelman and great and great-great nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are many dear friends including Kathleen Burda of Lincoln and Ann Ramsey of Tecumseh.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Father Jim Meysenburg officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
