Katherine Gilbert, 103, of Falls City, NE, passed away January 6, 2024 at Falls City. She was born February 10, 1920 at Sabetha, KS to George and Ona (Curran) Nohl.
She married William “Bill” J. H. Gilbert on December 8, 1937 at Holton, KS. He passed away March 9, 1984.
Katherine was raised in the Nemaha and Brown County Kansas area and attended Fairview High School. When married the couple established their home in Capioma, KS. They continued to live in the Capioma, Woodlawn and Morrill areas until moving to a farm southwest of Falls City in 1943. She was a homemaker and farm wife. She moved into Falls City following the death of her husband in 1984. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Katherine is survived by her children, Shirley Mapes of Omaha, NE, Sharon Lake of Lake In The Hills, IL, Fred and his wife Sandy of Falls City, twelve grandchildren, many great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Avis Beer and LaVerna Taylor, grandsons, Bruce Mapes and Kevin Lake.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will be in Morrill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday one hour prior to service time at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
