Marilyn Kirkendall, 77, of Falls City, died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at Lincoln. She was born July 2, 1937 at Brownville, to the late Glen and Wilma (Mathis) Helms.
Marilyn married Charles Kirkendall on Aug. 31, 1957 at Reno, NV. He passed away July 15, 1999.
She was raised at Brownville and graduated from Brownville High School. When married the couple established their home in Modesto, CA, later moved to Lincoln and then to Richardson County. She was a farm wife and also worked as the Activity Director at East View Apartments until retiring in the summer of 2014.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Richard and LeRoy Kirkendall, both of Falls City, Kenny (Deb) Kirkendall, of Reserve, KS, Dennis (Debbie) Kirkendall, of Dawson, Rodney Kirkendall and special friend Sue Bantz, of Barada, Mike Kirkendall and special friend April Rath, of Falls City; daughter, Pam Kirkendall and special friend Joe Schafer, of Skidmore, MO; brother, Everet Helms, of Atlantic, IA; sisters, Mary Margaret Parker, of Atlantic, IA; and Judy Bahr, of Stella; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jimmy Kirkendall; brother, Billy Helms; and a sister, Gladys Holmgren.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014 at Harris Cemetery in Barada with Pastor Dan Farley officiating. Open visitation at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, of Falls City, will begin Tuesday afternoon.
