Frank J. Thomas, 83, formerly of Dawson, Nebraska was born on May 2, 1940, in Moore, Oklahoma to Frank Johnson and Mary Elizabeth (Finchun) Thomas. He was the oldest of four children and was raised on a farm near Dawson. Frank attended Pleasant View country school through the eighth grade and then attended Honey Creek and Dawson High School. After his father passed away, he started working for Richardson County at the age of eighteen and took care of his mother and family. Frank worked for the county forty-nine years before retiring all while caring and providing for his mother and sister. He was a very hard worker who enjoyed helping area farmers on the weekend and tending to his large garden. Frank passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the Falls City Care Center in Falls City, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of eighty-three years, five months and six days. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Virginia (Gerald) Estes and Mary Thomas.
Frank is survived by his brother Ray Thomas and his wife Sharon of Salem, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Starr Cemetery in rural Dawson, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.
Memorials contributions may be given to the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Garden.
