Our loving mother, Linda Sue (Davidson) Majerus, 76, of Davenport passed peacefully on January 18, 2023. Born July 20, 1946, to Myron “Red” and Lorena Mae (Burrell) Davidson in Falls City, Nebraska, Linda’s educational years were faithfully spent in the Sacred Heart district where she enjoyed volleyball and vocal music. Her caregiving nature was developed early as a candy striper in Falls City.
She married Robert Joseph Majerus on August 22, 1964. With their two sons, Robert Carl and Richard Alan, the couple settled in Maquoketa, Iowa. Linda began a long career in banking, eventually becoming Marketing Director at Maquoketa State Bank. After several years with Northwestern Mutual Life as an insurance agent, she returned to her roots as a caregiver providing home health care to seniors.
Linda was active in the Maquoketa parish of Sacred Heart teaching CCD and volunteering at school functions, and enjoyed tennis and family fun. She loved supporting her sons in their academic and athletic endeavors in high school and college and continued with her grandchildren’s interests. Perhaps her most joyous times were those spent listening to music and playing games with her family.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Red and Lorena; sisters, Margaret Ann Fritz (Marvin), Norma Adreon (Frank), Elsie Lewis (Vern); and parents-in-law Carl and Margaret Majerus.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Davidson (Peggy) of Falls City; former husband, Bob, her two sons and daughters-in-law Rob and Holly / Rich and Joyce of Sycamore, IL as well as five grandchildren: Emma, Parker, Jack, Kate, Grace; one great-granddaughter, Olive; many loving nieces and nephews.
Per Linda’s wishes, private services will be held with Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. The family plans a celebration of life honoring Linda at a later date.
