Douglas D. Halbert dies of COVID

Douglas D. Halbert, 80, of Omaha, NE, died from COVID-19 on November 28, 2020.

He was raised in Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School with the class of 1958. He had a long career with Builders Supply Co., Inc. in Omaha, Nebraska and had planned to finally retire at the end of the year. 

He received his Amateur Radio License, K0BOY, while in high school and it was a lifelong hobby of his. He was well known in Omaha and the midwest for his participation in Amateur Radio activities. 

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents,  Chapman and Thelma Halbert, and his sons, Douglas Halbert and Steven Halbert. 

Douglas is survived by his wife, Belinda J. Halbert of Omaha; children, Kimberly D. Waite and David S. Halbert; stepsons: Robert E. Graham III (Amy Marie), David W. Graham, and Randolph S. Graham (Shari); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. 

He also is survived by his sister, Donna Commins of Holton, Kansas and his brother, Richard Halbert and nephews Christopher Halbert and Andy Halbert of Falls City. 

Douglas was cremated with a private Family Internment at Evergreen Memorial Park in Omaha.
