Richard Nolen Moyer

Richard Nolen Moyer, 87, of Falls City, NE passed away peacefully, in his home, surrounded by loved ones on July 21, 2020.

Richard was born on September 17, 1932, on his family farm in Gilman, IA. He was one of 8 children born to Leonard and June Moyer. He attended school in Gilman, graduating in 1950. After high school, he left the family farm and joined the United States Navy. Richard served in the Navy during the Korean War and was stationed in Brooklyn, NY. After serving four years, he received an honorable discharge. He then moved to Minneapolis, where he met Wanda Hard. They were married on February 8, 1963, in Albuquerque, NM.

Richard held many jobs over his lifetime, including foster care for battered and abused children, electrician, safe cracker and trophy husband. However, his favorite job was being dad and grandpa. He worked for Midwest Grain Product in Atchison, KS, for 17 years before retiring in 1994 and moving to Falls City. After his short retirement from MGP, he got bored and started working again. He worked for a short time at Hardee’s, then Subway, before going to work at Golden Eagle Casino. From there, Richard moved on to work at Sac & Fox Casino and worked in maintenance for 12 years. He worked there up until the time he could no longer see to make the drive.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Wanda Moyer of Falls City, daughters: Deborah Hart of Falls City, Katherine Russell of Falls City, Wendi Padgett of Topeka, KS; a son Robert Moyer of Falls City, sisters: Donna (Jigs) Stonewall of Iowa, Kathy Moyer of California, a brother Dale (Hattie) Moyer of Iowa, 12 grandchildren: Jennifer Grantham, John (Carly) Russell, Misty (Johnny) Green, Corrin (Warren) Sudweeks, Amie Hart, Aric Russell, Jeremy (Katy) Friend, Kaelan Jones, Kirby Jones, Kamelia Jones, Hailey Moyer and Michael Lovejoy; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren with another one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Christine Ann Lovejoy, granddaughter Amber Nicole Russell, three sisters and a brother.

Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020, at the Steele Cemetery in Falls City, Nebraska, with Pastor Doug Delhay officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Naval Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family with a later designation.
