Jeanne Marie (Powell) Standerford

Jeanne Marie (Powell) Standerford was born to Harlan and Libby (Ninger) Powell on November 3, 1929, at Humboldt, Nebraska. She attended Hazel Dell School District #13, graduated from Humboldt High School in 1947 and Peru Normal Training in 1949. Jeanne attended the school of life until her passing on January 20, 2020.
Jeanne was united in marriage to James M. Standerford on April 9, 1950, at the First Presbyterian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska. The couple resided west of Humboldt after their marriage, where they established JMS Dairy, until moving into Humboldt in 2006.
Jeanne was the organist for the Presbyterian Church, and accompanist for Dawson-Verdon for 25 years and HTRS for 13 years until her retirement. After graduating from Peru, she taught elementary classes in Table Rock for two years, then later served as a substitute teacher in Dawson-Verdon for a time. Jeanne played for many weddings and funerals over the years. She was a member of the Sing-A-Fours Quartet, Humboldt Presbyterian Church, Rebekahs, and served as a 4-H leader for over 55 years. Jeanne loved singing in the community cantatas. Jeanne was the State President of the Rebekahs in 1999-2000, and Musician for the National Rebekah Association.
Jeanne loved children, music, and God. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed cooking for crowds. Jeanne would joke that JMS Dairy was home to cows, kids, and cats. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Jeanne is survived by her husband Jim of Humboldt, daughters, Janet Davis and husband Michael of Gretna, Mary Chapman and husband Sterling of Murdock and Judy Woodruff and husband Steve of Shawnee, KS; sons, Tom Standerford and wife Rhonda of Humboldt, John Standerford and wife Linda of Bedford, IA, and Joe Standerford and wife Kim of Humboldt, 18 grandkids, 24 great-grandkids, and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2020, at the First Presbyterian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska, with Rev. Don Fankhauser and Pastor Rick Martin officiating.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Humboldt. A Rebekah’s service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials contributions may be given to the family with a later designation
Inurnment will be in the Humboldt Cemetery, Humboldt, Nebraska.
