Jesse Hall, Sr.

Jesse Hall, Sr., 97, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born on February 13, 1922, in Woodlake, Nebraska, the son of Thomas and Mary Jessep Hall.

  Jesse attended school at Boatman School in Nemaha County, Nebraska and lived in Falls City, Nebraska. He lived in Hiawatha, Kansas before moving to Quenemo.

Jesse farmed for several years and then worked unloading coal cars in Nebraska. He worked at Monarch Egg Plant in Hiawatha until retiring in 1984.

Jesse was married to Barbara Lunsford in 1943. She preceded him in death on October 30, 1973. In 1974, he married Dorothy Sammos, they divorced in 1977. On December 2, 1977, he married Carolyn Calvert in Hiawatha.

Jesse was preceded in death by five sons, Larry in infancy, Jake, Steven, Terry and Jesse, Jr.; by four daughters, Wilmetta, Lyla, Susie and Tammy; by two stepdaughters, Cindy Cook, and Carolyn Calvert-Trout; and by two brothers, Lou and Leo Hall.

  Jesse is survived by his wife, Carolyn of the home; his two daughters, Ranee Spicer of Hiawatha and LaDonna Moore of Topeka; his son, David Hall of Salem, Nebraska; his four stepdaughters, Ginny (Mark) Hopkins of Holton, Roberta (David) Fox of Overbrook and Sherri Sammos and Linda Mangold, both of Nebraska; his brother, Herbert Hall of Fremont, Nebraska; his sister, Darlene Domney of Syracuse, Nebraska; 39 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 23 at the Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Quenemo, KS.
