Edna Mae (Rice) Colglazier

Edna Mae (Rice) Colglazier, one of eleven children of Ben and Gladys (Dunlap) Rice, was born September 4, 1939, in Craig, MO.  Edna attended various schools in Missouri as she was growing up until the family moved to southeast Nebraska in 1950. She graduated from Nemaha High School in 1957.

On July 29, 1957, Edna was united in marriage to Sherman Colglazier in Hiawatha. They made their home near Shubert in Nebraska and were blessed with three children:  Nikki, Jerry, and Marjorie.

Edna was a dedicated wife and mother, an excellent artist, seamstress, and a wonderful cook.  She was a member of Prairie Union Church near Shubert and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.  Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her grandchildren.

As a result of health issues, Edna became a resident of Good Samaritan Society of Auburn, in May of 2018. It was there she passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2019.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Jetta Kirchman and Freda Hughes, and brothers Duane Mather, Jonny Rice, Ben Rice, Jr., and Harold Rice.

Edna is survived by her husband Sherman of Shubert; children Nikki Colglazier of Auburn; Jerry Colglazier of Nemaha; Marjorie and husband John Hoelting of Bonner Springs, KS; grandchildren Melissa, Tyler, and Jared Kirkendall, John, Bryce, and Josie Hoelting; numerous great-grandchildren; brother Francis (Jean) Rice of Auburn; sisters Rosa Curttright of Riverside, MO; Deloris (Bob) Campbell of Seward, NE; Marjorie (Bob) Borchert of Independence, MO; sister-in-law Doris (Landon) Quigley of Shawnee, KS; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A graveside funeral service, officiated by Tom Beutler, was Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Prairie Union Cemetery near Shubert. Casket bearers were Jerry Colglazier, John Hoelting, Bryce Hoelting, Tyler Kirkendall, Dylan Handley, and Levi Handley.

Services were entrusted to Hemmingsen Funeral Home of Auburn.
