Carolyn Joy, 88, of Falls City, passed away March 18, 2019, in Falls City. She was born March 31, 1930, in Salem to Harry and Iva (Reagan) Huston.
Carolyn was raised in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1948. She earned a degree in Home Economics at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, graduating in 1952.
She married Leon Joy on September 12, 1954, at Salem.
She taught at Falls City High School for two years, and when married she did substitute work. When the children were grown, she taught for another year at Falls City. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, PEO, Sorosis, and Presbyterian Woman of her church.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Leon of Falls City, children, Cindy Adams and her husband Scott of International Falls, MN, Van and his wife Itzel of San Antonio, TX, Rod and his wife Murial of Falls City, Amy Cleveland and her husband Jim of Aurora, CO, sister, Kathryn Nolte of St. Anthony, MN, sister-in-law, Karen Joy of Falls City, grandchildren, Allison, Amanda, Andrew and Quentin Joy, Becky Oeltjenbruns, Aaron and Sam Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Douglas in infancy.
Her memorial service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019, at 10:30 AM at First United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rick Martin officiating. A private inurnment service will be held at Maple Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials to Maple Cemetery or Headstart.
