Orlee J. Schacht

Orlee J. Schacht, 90, of Falls City, passed away March 5, 2019, in Falls City. She was born April 4, 1928, in Rulo, to Vernon and Mable (Spicer) Prater.

She married William Titus on October 26, 1948, in Hiawatha, KS. He passed away on November 9, 1996. She then married LaMar Schacht on November 6, 1999, in Falls City.

Orlee attended the Rulo School through the 10th grade. At the age of 15, she went to work in the kitchen at Camp Rulo and later at Sid’s Café.

Orlee married Mr. Titus, and in their 48 years of marriage, they lived in several towns and even a couple different states. They raised four children. In the time of their retirement, they were working at Farmland Foods in Crete, NE. Once retired they were able to move back to their home town of Falls City in 1991. In May of 1996, Mr. Titus was diagnosed with bone cancer and lost his battle in November of that same year. When she married Mr. Schacht, she gained four step-children and led a very active life, dancing, cycling, bowling, and shuffling — leaving Nebraska every winter to enjoy the warmer Texas weather. They also got to go to Hawaii and to take a cruise in Alaska.

In 2006 Orlee was diagnosed with lung cancer. Lamar and Orlee now had to slow down. Although the radiation and chemo had their effects, they continued their winter trips to Texas and enjoyed every day that God blessed them with.

In later years Orlee called the Assembly of God Church home. However, she gave her life to God around 1956 and was baptized in the Nemaha River just south of Rulo. At that time she was going to the Nazarene Church in Falls City.

Orlee is survived by her husband, LaMar of Falls City, son, Bruce Titus and his wife Adeline of Portland, OR, daughters, Bobbie Townsend of Gadsden, AL, Tina Tietjen and her partner Glenn Palmer of Winigan, MO, step-children, Gary Schacht and his wife Cherry of Troy, KS, Carol Zimmerman, Charlotte Gentry and Cindy Sailors all of Falls City, eight grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, two sisters and a son, Tim Titus.
