Esther Zentner, 91, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018 at Falls City Care Center. She was born March 31, 1927 in DeWitt, NE to Henry and Lydia (Hahn) Wollenburg, and attended school in DeWitt, graduating from high school in 1944.
She married Harlan J. Zentner, Nov. 8, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran, near DeWitt.
Prior to her marriage, Esther taught school at St. Paul’s parochial school. She was active in Dorcas Circle at St. Paul’s, the Shubert Literary Club and the Kensington social club. She assisted her children in all their 4-H projects, and liked to sew, paint china and play cards.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, James (Eileen) Zentner, Janet Thomson, and Lee Zentner, grandchildren; Cole (Catrina) Zentner of rural Verdon, Seth (Laurel) Zentner of Omaha, Matthew (Rebecca) Toomsen of Omaha and Erin (Lucas) Keppy of Davenport, IA, eight great-grandchildren: Colt, Cale and Cy Zentner, Wesley and Levi Zentner, Andrew and Abigail Toomsen, and Luci Keppy; her sister Elaine Bevington, brother Richard (Alice) Wollenburg, sisters-in-law Arlene Blobaum, Lenora Wyre and Phyllis (Warren) Hopkins, and brother-in-law Lorenz (Mary Ann) Niemeyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Eldon Wollenburg and two sisters, Marion Niemeyer and Mildred Wollenburg.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (six miles north of Falls City) with Reverend Daniel Gifford officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
