Richard “Dick” Wilson, 85, of Falls City, passed away July 11, 2018 in Falls City. He was born August 11, 1932 at Minden, NE to Floyd and Mary (Boyle) Wilson.
Dick enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1956.
Dick was raised at Minden and graduated Minden High School in 1950. He attended Hastings College where he earned a football scholarship. Following his discharge he enrolled in the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and earned a degree in Animal Husbandry.
He married Hallie Peck on July 7, 1952 in Minden.
The couple moved to a farm north of Falls City in 1958. He farmed his entire life, retiring in 1997. He served on the District 30 school board for several years, was awarded the conservation farm of the year and the 100 year Family Farm Award from Aksarben. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Dick is survived by his wife, Hallie of Falls City, daughter, Marty Cruickshank and her husband Steve of Firth, NE, sons, Tim and his wife Teri of Firth, Tom of Scottsdale, AZ, brother, Jack and his wife Shari of Loveland, CO, sister, Joan Flemming of Rochester, MN, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David and a brother Rodney.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Thomas Dunavan officiating.
Interment was in Silver Creek Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family received friends on Friday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
