Marjorie Ann Corliss, 70, of Falls City known to many as” Nana” passed away peacefully January 16, 2018 with her grandson Mason at her side. Marj was born in Hawthorne, Nevada to Gordon and Maxine “Gail” (Stewart) Vess. Later to be raised by her mom and step dad, Gail and Ivey Stanley.
Marj married Robert Curfman and lived in the Hardy/Superior, Nebraska area where they raised their three children until the marriage dissolved. She later married Mirza Corliss, residing in Deshler, NE until that marriage also came to an end. Marj and the kids moved to Lincoln for several years before making her home in Falls City.
Throughout her life, Marj held a variety of jobs, everything from switchboard operator to filling station attendant. The position she held most was as a CNA or providing home health care. Nana’s wish was for her friends and family to remember her as the laid back, sassy, fun loving, food throwing and yet somewhat blunt person that she’s always been. It is for that reason she chose cremation and no services upon her passing.
She is survived by her sister Nancy Lauritson of CA; brothers: Pete Vess of OR; Ron Vess of AZ; sons: Dustin Curfman of Falls City; Michael Corliss of Brownville; daughter Cassandra Kuker and husband Brian of Falls City; grandsons: Mason (Stephanie) Corliss, Hunter Hesterman, Michael Corliss and Asher Kuker; granddaughters: Eliza Kuker, Malorie Kuker and Brooklyn Hesterman. Marj was also a foster parent to several Richardson County children.
She is preceded in death by her parents Gordon Vess and Gail Stanley, her step father Ivey Stanley, and granddaughter Electra Kuker.
