Steven Hilgenfeld

Steven William Hilgenfeld, 38, of Dawson, Nebraska was born on April 2, 1979, in Humboldt, Nebraska to Charles and Elizabeth (Gill) Hilgenfeld.

He was raised on the family farm north of Dawson. Steven was baptized and confirmed at Bethel United Methodist Church in Dawson. He attended school in Humboldt and graduated as Valedictorian from Humboldt High School with the class of 1997. Steven then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He graduated in 2002 with his B.A. Degree in business. After graduating, he remained in Lincoln where he worked for fifteen years in banking software for ITI/Fiserv.

On June 2, 2007, Steven was united in marriage to Stephanie Booher in Lincoln. To this union three children, Liam Charles, Rory Lynn, and Ellie June, were born and one that Steve is holding in his arms in heaven. The couple began their marriage, raising their family in Lincoln before moving back to the home he was raised in near Dawson. Steve was a Past Grand Master of the Humboldt Masonic Lodge and was currently an active member of The Christian Church in Humboldt.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and cooking. Steve also loved music and karaoke was a favorite of his. He had such talent, he was a jack of all trades. Steve was a beloved friend; his friendships were lifelong. Everyone enjoyed Steve’s company because his personality was one in a million. His positive attitude was admired by so many and his sense of humor was infectious. Above all, Steve was a loving husband and father. He took those roles very seriously and loved his family with all of his heart.

Steve adored Stephanie from the first moment they met (karaoke of course!) and he centered his life around their incredible bond. He loved watching Rory dance and teaching Liam how to do things like gardening. When Ellie was born, his heart grew even larger. He loved having her close and even though he couldn’t physically hold her, he held her with his heart.
