Earnest F. Rumbaugh Jr., 86, passed away on Jan. 31, 2016. He was born in Auburn on Oct. 5, 1930 to the late Earnest Rumbaugh Sr. and Claire (Cummings) Rumbaugh.
Earnest graduated from Auburn High School in 1947. He served in the Korean War from 1948 -1952. He welded for the Army, which is how he learned this trade.
He was a resident of the Eastern Nebraska VA Home for three years. As he battled Alzheimer’s, he was still able to show his smile, give that special wink, and he never lost his sense of humor. Earnest’s love of farming kept him active for 55 years near Sabetha, KS. He donated his body to the Nebraska Medical Center to research Alzheimer’s disease.
Earnest is survived by wife of 61 years, Lois (Eden); daughter, Suzanne Kuhn; sons, David and Neal Rumbaugh; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, John and Bob; and sister, Claire.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Vanlora and Rita.
