Donna Meyer, 86, of Falls City, passed away Nov. 2, 2017 at Hiawatha, KS. She was born May 23, 1931 at Stella, to Joy and Mildred (Myers) Marts. Donna was raised in Humboldt, NE and graduated Humboldt High School in 1949.
On January 27, 1951 she married the love her life, John Meyer, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, north of Falls City. Following graduation she worked for American Bus Line. When married the couple lived various places due to her husband’s military service including; Randolph Air Force Base at Texas and Air Force bases in Albuquerque, NM, where she worked for the Atomic Energy Commission, and Vallejo, CA before settling Falls City in 1955.
In Falls City she was employed as a cook at Mutt & Jeff, and at the Bakery for 46 years. She moved to the Pines in Hiawatha and lived there for 15 days before her death. She loved to fish and play cards. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, north of Falls City.
Donna is survived by her husband of 66 years, John of Falls City, daughter, Linda Grimm and her husband Dave of Hiawatha, granddaughter, Michelle Boeckman and her husband Jim of Hiawatha, sister, Betty Usher and her husband Bill of Humboldt, NE, niece and nephews, Virginia and Jim Fosket, Mike and Vicki Usher, Tom and Pam Usher and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy. Her funeral was held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, six miles north of Falls City, with Reverend Daniel Gifford officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
The family received friends on Sunday from 4-5:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to family choice for later designation.
