APOLLONIA ‘LONI’ INGLIS

Apollonia “Loni” Maria (Shafer) Inglis, 79, of Falls City, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the Community Medical Center in Falls City. She was born on Dec.  8, 1937, in Straubing, West Germany to Benedikt and Berta Scheifl.  
Loni was raised in Germany where she attended school and graduated from high school. She met her future husband Norman T. Shafer while he was serving in the army and stationed in Germany. The couple were married on June 1, 1959 and to this union six children, Petra, Helmut, Melvin, Norman I., Debbie, and Ramona were born. The couple began married life raising their family in Germany before moving to Falls City Loni worked for many years as a waitress at Northvue Café and the Motel. She was later united in marriage to James “Jim” Inglis. Loni loved to cook and made sure everybody that was at her home didn’t go hungry.  She was a member of the Falls City VFW Auxillary # 1765 and in her spare time enjoyed cooking, drinking beer, camping, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Loni would do anything for anybody and seemed to always have a smile on her face.  
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman T. Shafer, three brothers, one sister, and daughters-in-law Shari Shafer and Robin Shafer.
Loni is survived by her husband Jim Inglis of Falls City; children: Petra (Peter) Primbs of Straubing, Germany; Helmut Shafer of Falls City; Melvin Shafer of Hiawatha, KS; Norman (Janet) Shafer of Falls City; Debbie (Wayne) Lucas of King George, VA; Ramona (Michael) Dishong of Falls City; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister Elfriede Rossmuller of Straubing, Germany; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside Committal Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at the Falls City Catholic Cemetery with Father Thomas Dunavan officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017, at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Falls City. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Falls City Animal Shelter.
