Norman Wayne Olson, 65, of Falls City, passed away on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at Falls City Healthcare Community. He was born Aug. 18, 1951 in Falls City to George E. and Leona V. (Oldfield) Olson.
Norm was raised in Rulo, where he attended school and later graduated from Falls City High School with the Class of 1970. In December 1971, he was united in marriage to Jean Shurtleff. To this union, a son, Christopher Norman, was born. The couple would later divorce.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Aug. 31, 1972 and served his country until being honorably discharged on Aug. 15, 1975. After his service, Norman moved to Tucson, AZ, where he was employed at Davis-Monthan AFB until his retirement. In June of 1988, he was united in marriage to Kathy Shantie. The couple would later divorce.
Norm enjoyed playing golf, his dogs, cheering on the Cornhuskers, and spending time with his son, Chris, who preceded him in death on June 24, 2013.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Olson; and sisters Kaye Davies and Jeannie Keller.
Norm is survived by his loving sisters, Gayle Coble, of Overland Park, KS, and Janelle (Mike) Marteny, of Falls City; a cousin, John (Claudia) Caverzagie, of Falls City; brother-in-law, Robert Keller Sr., of White Cloud, KS; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Graveside inurnment services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at the Rulo Cemetery, with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Nebraska Army Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation. Hall Funeral Chapel, of Falls City, is in charge of arrangements.
