MARK NIXON

Mark C. Nixon, 90, of Salem, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at Falls City.  
   His funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tim Boatright officiating.  Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.  Open visitation and viewing will begin Saturday afternoon at the funeral home.
   He was born March 9, 1926, at Falls City, the son of the late Dennis and Neva (Bradbury) Nixon.  On July 23, 1950, he married Ruth Emigh at Bern, KS.  They were later divorced.
   Mark attended Hamlin High School at Hamlin, KS.  When married, the couple established their home on a farm near Reserve, KS, and later moved to a farm near Dawson, where he continued to farm until they purchased Flanagan’s Grill and moved to Falls City.  They renamed the business Nixon’s Grill.  He then operated the bar and cafe in Salem and was also a lineman for Great Plains Construction for 15 years.
   Mark is survived by two sons, Terry Nixon of Bellevue, NE, and Dennis Nixon of Hydro, OK, two daughters, Kathy Miner of Hiawatha, KS, and Dixie Wolf of Logandale, NV, a sister, Nellie Schuler of Falls City, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and ex-wife, Ruth Ann Nixon of Henderson, NV.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lucretia Meinheit, brothers, Earl and Chester Nixon, a son-in-law, Mike Miner, a grandchild and a niece.
